About the Author

Hector “BamHek” Lasanta was born in Puerto Rico to Christian parents. Though the family had little money, they were close and rooted in service and strong values. As a teenager he turned toward a life of crime, and the consequences of that path led him in and out of jail and prison multiple times throughout his life.

In the years that followed he also faced divorce, bankruptcy, sexual abuse, mental illness, abandonment, violence, addiction, homelessness, poverty, deep confusion, and periods of suicidal ideation. None of these experiences were theoretical. They were lived.

The New New Testament did not come only from his current knowledge or from having it all figured out. While writing, he connected with a version of himself that lives beyond the present struggles of humanity. Some of the concepts arrived fully formed and were new even to him as he received them. The book is the result of that collaboration—grounded in lived friction, yet carrying teachings that point beyond it.

He continues the work today as a father, builder, and student of the living truth, still getting back up and keeping on, sharing what he is learning through BamHekTV.
